About Brent Curtis

My name is Brent Curtis, and I’m running for Ward 12 because this community means everything to me. It’s where I’m raising my family and I’m committed to ensuring our neighborhoods receive the services, representation, and opportunities we all deserve. For over 13 years I’ve been proud to call Mahogany and Auburn Bay my home. During this time I founded DOMA (Dads of Mahogany, Auburn Bay and the Deep South), an initiative designed to bring fathers together - not only to create mutual support and friendships, but also to foster a stronger, more connected community.

I’m a proud father of four - Kaida (13), Andi (10), Rylee (7), and Jett (4) - with my wife, Aarin. Like every parent, I want my children to grow up in a safe, thriving community. They deserve access to excellent schools, safe streets, and limitless opportunities, and I’m dedicated to turning this vision into a reality for every family that calls Ward 12 home.

My professional background makes me a strong candidate for council. Over the years I’ve gained valuable experience in several industries including railways, pipelines, oilfield services, oilfield sales, small business ownership, and most recently, the automotive sector, where I’ve worked for the past seven years. These experiences have equipped me with the skills to collaborate effectively, solve problems, and truly listen to the concerns of others.

Priorities for Ward 12

The greatest challenges facing Ward 12 include rapid growth, increasingly strained infrastructure, rising affordability concerns, and ensuring our communities remain safe, welcoming, and well-connected. My vision for Ward 12 is to create a thriving, secure, inclusive, and affordable community where families can truly flourish, and where growth is supported by strong, reliable services and well-planned infrastructure that meets the needs of everyone.

Experience

I bring solid experience in building strong community connections through projects like my Dads Group, DOMA. Throughout my career I've focused on creating practical solutions that make a real difference. I've worked in industries like railways, pipelines, oilfield services, and have also started and managed successful small businesses. This wide range of experience gives me the skills to be a reliable and effective advocate for Ward 12. A key aspect of my approach is fostering collaboration and open communication. I believe that by listening to the concerns and ideas of residents, we can develop innovative strategies that truly address community needs. Whether it's through town halls, one-on-one discussions, or online engagement, I strive to ensure that every voice is heard and valued in shaping the future of our community.
